The 2015 Mitsubishi Evolution X MR is the final model year for the Evo. The vehicle features a 2.0L I4 engine producing 291 HP and 300 lb-ft of torque, sent though a sophisticated AWD system called S-AWC which involves an active center differential and a torque vectoring rear differential. The MR features a 6 speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) with paddle shifters. The Evo X has multiple transmission modes: Normal, Sport, and Super Sport where shift points and shifting speeds are altered. There are also various AWD modes including Tarmac, Gravel, and Snow. NOTE: I'm told there is a USB port in the glove compartment. Thanks for pointing this out! This Mitsubishi Evolution has the standard suite of bolt-on parts along with a KW Variant 3 Coil Over Suspension, all of which provide a balanced package. But, we have been there before. The main reason for this review is this Evo is the MR, meaning it has the SST Dual-Clutch transmission, which we have never featured before on a One Take. This week we’re at the helm of the venerable Evo X, here in MR trim. Normally we’d dive into the particulars of the car, including its 2.0-liter four cylinder motor and its 291 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and the six-speed dual clutch gearbox our test is equipped with. However, with the demise of the Evo looming ahead, we thought we’d share Multimedia Editor Chris Amos’ thoughts after spending a week with the iconic sports sedan: “I'm going to say here that this car is one of the greats. The performance is outstanding, but more importantly it's a really fun and satisfying car to drive (all the time, not just spiritedly). The dual-clutch transmission really grew on me too. The tuning suits the car well, and the close-ratio six-speed enables you to use the powerband just a little bit more than the 5-speed in the GSR. Both are great transmissions, but personally I think I'd retract my previous statement and go for the dual clutch in this case. It's a bit old, but it works well. And there's a secret S-mode+ that enables launch control and seems to turn up the boost a bit. The Brembo brakes are very good, easy to modulate with a ton of stopping power. The only knocks I have against the car are the new seats for 2015 (they're comfortable and good for daily driving but pretty unsupportive around the bends, especially with the levels of grip the Evo has), and the fuel range/gas mileage isn't great, but you know that going in. This was my first time driving an Evo and I was very impressed. Bone stock car with the 6 speed twin clutch transmission. The car is super responsive and the turbo seemed to run smooth without any lag. The stock exhaust and intake doesn't make too much sound, but I know upgraded parts will make it sound awesome. Handling was excellent with limited body roll and the Recaro seats did a fantastic job keeping me in the seat. I like the interior a lot, some people say its very plain, but I think with the navigation system and black with aluminum trim made the interior look great. Overall, this is one fun car!!

Can This Abandoned Evo Be Cleaned? Car Detailing Restoration of A Mitsubishi Evolution X Today I am detailing a Mitsubishi Evo X MR that has been sitting for several years covered in a garage just waiting to be brought back out on the road and restored back to its glory. I will be pulling out the seats, cleaning every inch of the interior, extracting the carpets, restoring trim all around the exterior including the wrapped roof and trunk, detailing the engine bay, and lastly giving the exterior a thorough car wash and applying a ceramic sealant from Cerakote. The Evolution X is the latest generation of Evo Mitsubishi produced and despite the criticism it receives, it still is a fantastic car to drive. Out of all the Evos the X is unique with its dual clutch manual transmission option.
