As president of the Philadelphia Suns, Harry Leong provides a community to call home for three generations, and counting, of disadvantaged Asian-American youth in the city. He joined as a child, and through organized basketball, learned the importance of integrity, commitment, and hard work. Thirty-six years later, Harry continues to impart these lessons to hundreds of young men and women to help them earn their wins on and off the court. 🤍 Thanks to your generous support and votes, Harry Leong and Rebecca Chin was invited to the White House in April 2012 to share their story about their work with the Suns and its impact with our nation's leaders! We have a Belief and Practice segment today about the Chinese Buddhist tradition of honoring deceased family members at the place where their ashes are interred. Harry Leong of New York City was our guide as he and his mother remembered his late father at the Chuang Yen monastery in Carmel, New York. The nine leaders and organizations have stood out as demonstrating exceptional leadership in civil rights, immigration, community empowerment, LGBT engagement, anti-bullying, health, and the arts. Their work has been an integral part ensuring that the underserved among them are given a voice.
