Soak the chickpeas overnight and then transfer them to a pressure cooker along with water, tea bag, cinnamon, bay leaf, salt and baking soda. 2. Close the lid and cook the chickpeas for 2-3 whistles on a medium low flame. 3. Remove the cinnamon stick, bay leaf and tea bag. Keep the chickpeas aside. 4. Take oil in a wide kadai and add the whole spices. Add onions and saute until they are golden brown in colour. 5. Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute. Add in the tomatoes, green chillies and cook until they are soft and mushy. 6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala. Mix well and add salt. Mix again. 7. Add the cooked chickpeas and water. 8. Close the kadai and cook the curry for 10 mins on a medium flame. 9. Add the anardana powder, kasuri methi and ghee. 10. Mix well, turn off the stove and transfer it to a serving bowl. 11. Garnish with chopped coriander and ginger juliennes. 12. Serve it hot with freshly made hot pooris or bhature. Once it gets warm add the water into a bowl. In a bowl, add chickpeas, warm water and let it soak for 30 minutes. For Boiling In a cooker or sauce pot, add soaked chole, water, degi red chili powder, turmeric powder, crushed garlic, green chili, ginger, baking soda and byadgi red chillies, black cardamom. Cook it for 5-6 whistles. For Ginger Garlic Paste In a mortar pestle, add garlic, ginger, green chilli, and salt to taste. Make a coarse paste and keep it aside for further use. For Curd Mixture In a bowl, add curd, degi red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and mix well. Keep aside for further use. For Tempering In a shallow pan or kadai, add oil, ghee. Once it gets hot, add bay leaf, black peppercorns, cinnamon sticks, dry red chillies and let it splutter well. Now, add ginger garlic paste, onions, green chillies. Cook it on a slow flame for 30 seconds until light golden in color. Now, add tomatoes, pinch of salt, degi red chili powder and sauté well. Add curd mixture and mix well and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Add water, tender coriander stems, salt to taste and let it cook for 10-15 minutes. Add coriander leaves, black pepper powder and mix well. Once done transfer it into a serving dish, garnish it with onion rings, ginger juliennes ,coriander sprig. Serve hot with bhature, rotis or chapati. In this video we will see how to make Channa Masala in Tamil. This Channa Masala recipe is very easy to make and Channa Masala gravy is an ideal side dish for chapathi. For this gravy we need to soak the konda kadalai (chick peas) for 8 hours prior to start of the recipe. This soaking helps the chickpeas to cook easily. This channa masala can also be served with chapathi, poori, roti, parotta etc. In order to thicken the gravy I smashed some of the chickpeas and added them back to the gravy this thickens it. Also to obtain a smooth texture I ground the onions and tomatoes after sauteing them. But this is optional and you can proceed with the recipe without grinding it. Aloo Chole Ki Sabzi - Aloo Chana Masala Recipe - How to Make Chole Masala In An Easy Way There are several ways to make chole masala but I find making channa masala in this way to be the quickest and easiest. Just stir everything is the pressure cooker and let the pressure cooker do its job for you. Ingredients required for making aloo chole masala - * 1 cup of dry chickpeas soaked in water overnight with 2 heaped teaspoons of salt. Please remember to discard all that water before cooking the chickpeas and giving it a quick rinse with cold tap water. * 150 gm/6 oz/ 1 large onion * 13 gm/0.4 oz/ 3 large cloves garlic * 20 gm/0.7 oz/ 1 & 1/2 inch length ginger or 1 heaped teaspoon of grated ginger * 380 gm/0.8 lb/ 3 medium to large potatoes cut into large chunky pieces * 375 gm/13.2 oz/ 4 large ripe tomatoes or 1/2 a cup of canned crushed tomatoes * 1 teaspoon cumin seeds(jeera) * 1 dried bayleaf (tejpatta) * 2 inch long cinnamon stick (dalchini) * 3 green cardamoms (chat elaichii) * 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi) * 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder (please adjust proportion according to your preference) * 1 teaspoon paprika (totally optional) * 2 heaped teaspoons ground coriander (dhania powder) * 1 teaspoon ground cumin (jeera powder) * 1 teaspoon garam masala powder. If you want to make your own garam masala powder then please follow this recipe - 🤍 * 1/4th teaspoon freshly crushed black pepper * 1/2 teaspoon kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves). Crush it before adding to release flavor. * 2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste. Please add less salt to start with. Chana Masala is also enjoyed as an Iftar Recipe. I make a special chana masala for my kala chana. This fresh Chana Masala is what gives it that characteristic flavour. For the dark colour of the Chana Masala, I use an iron kadhai to make the Chana Masala. Thank you for watching! 💫 And don’t forget to subscribe here: 🤍 Recipe : Chana Masala Preparation time: 20 minutes + soaking time Cooking time: 25 minutes Serves: 4 Ingredients: 2 cups Kala Chana (Bengal gram) 3 tbsp Oil 2” Cinnamon 2 Black cardamom 4 tbsp Coriander seeds 7-8 Cloves ¼ Mace 2 Bay leaves 2 tsp Cumin 1 tsp Pepper powder 1 tbsp Coriander powder 1 tsp Red Chili Powder 2 tbsp Dry mango Powder ½ tsp Cumin Seeds 1/8 tsp Asafoetida Coriander leaves to garnish Salt to taste Method: Soak the Bengal gram overnight or for a minimum of 8 hours. Pressure cook the soaked Bengal gram with the bay leaf, black cardamom, 1tsp salt in 3 cups water for 5 whistles or till done. In a pan, dry roast the Cinnamon, Black cardamom, Coriander seeds, Cloves, Mace, Bay leaves, Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds and Cloves. When fragrant and lightly coloured, remove from heat. Cool and grind to a powder. Mix in the coriander powder, red chili powder and the dry mango powder. Heat oil. To medium hot oil, add the cumin seeds and allowed to splutter Add the Asafoetida. Next add in the prepared chana masala and mix well. Add half cup water and bring to a boil. Cook till the oil separates. Add the boiled Bengal grams and toss well. Cook till all the water is absorbed by the spices and the spices coat the chana well. Join me in this episode and learn how to make an easy vegan chickpea masala curry recipe today! Let's begin. Ingredients: 3 pieces garlic 1 small piece ginger 1 onion 1 1/2 cup puréed tomatoes 3 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp coriander seeds 2 cardamom pods 2 bay leaves 1/2 tsp pink salt 1/2 tsp chili powder 2 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp turmeric 2 tsp garam masala 1 1/2 cups canned chickpeas 1/3 cup coconut milk few sprigs cilantro Directions: 1. Finely chop the garlic and ginger. Dice the onion 2. Heat up a sauté pan on medium heat. Then, add the olive oil 3. Add and cook the coriander seeds, cardamom pods, and bay leaves for about 1 min 4. Add the diced onion and the pink salt. Sauté for 3-4min 5. Add the garlic and ginger. Sauté for another minute 6. Turn the heat down and add in the chili powder, paprika, cinnamon, and turmeric. Then, give everything a good mix 7. Add in the puréed tomatoes followed by the garam masala 8. Turn the heat back up to medium and stir. Then, add in the chickpeas and cook for about a minute 9. Add in coconut milk. Stir and cook for another 3-4min 10. Ingredients Chickpeas -1 1/4 cup Tomato-2 1/2 medium Onion-2 medium Ginger-medium piece Garlic-4-5 cloves Cumin seeds-1/2tsp Kasurimethi leaves-3/4tsp Garam masala-1tsp Coriander Powder-1tbsp Chilli Powder-1tsp Turmeric Powder-1/4tsp Salt-to taste Black Salt-1/4tsp (opt) Dry red chilli-1 Cloves-3 Cardamom -2 Vegetable Oil-1tbsp (opt) Water-4-5 cups Coriander leaves – Lemon Juice-1tbsp Method Method Wash and soak chick peas overnight or minimum 5 hours.. Drain them and keep aside .. In a blender add onion cubes,tomato cubes,ginger,garlic ,cumin seeds,kasuri methi,all powders ,salts along with some water and make a very fine paste.. Add this paste to the chick peas along with dry red chilli(pieces) ,cloves and cardamom and oil … Add water and mix well and cook in medium flame … 6-7 whistle or till done .. When the pressure settles down open the cooker and check whether its well cooked or not .. Then check the salt and add if needed .. Now cook this chole in medium heat till the oil separates .. Finally add lemon juice and sprinkle some coriander leaves … Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped onion and coriander leaves . Chana masala or chole masala is a popular vegetable dish in Indian cuisine. The main ingredient is chickpeas. It is fairly dry and spicy with a sour citrus Channa masala, an impressive, fairly dry and spicy dish with a sour tangy taste made with chickpeas. It is a popular Punjabi dish commonly known as chole masala or channay and mostly cooked in Indian and Pakistani cuisines. Channa Masala 🤍 Ingredients 200 grams channa 25 grams channa masala pdr 1 springs coriander leaves 1 pinch cumin 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste 2 number gr chillies 1 number lime 3 tbsp oil 2 number onion 1 to taste salt 2 number tomatoes 1 pinch turmeric (optional) few piece whole garam masala Directions • Soak chana in water overnight or to cook the same day soak them in warm water for at least 5-6hrs • Pressure cook chole • Drain the chole, reserve the liquid • Chop up onion, tomatoes • Heat oil in a deep saucepan and add cumin seeds whole garam masala • When the cumin seeds change color add chopped onion to it and saute till they are brown • Add the Ginger-garlic paste to it and saute for couple of minutes • Add all the tomatoes dry powders to it and saute add salt • Saute the tomatoes till they are soft and mushed up, • Add the chana to the mixture and mix gently so that chole are properly coated in the mixture • Add the reserved water depending on the gravy you need, check and adjust the seasoning • Simmer the stove and cook covered for 5-6 minutes and garnish it with cilantro leaves • Serve it with bhature, puri or chapatti with sliced onion and lemon wedge by the side chole bautra is just awesome - make it a point to make it soon ..
