If that's the case, you can use Alpha (or inverted Alpha) rather than LUM. If the Matte Transitions is actual black and white (no alpha) then you must use Lum (or Inverted Lum). The easy way to use Matte Transitions in Davinci Resolve 17! Learn how to allow any transparency generated on the Color page to be used in other places such as the Edit page in DaVinci Resolve. Details below... On the Color page there are numerous ways to isolate areas that include the Qualifier and Power Windows. Such selections can be made available to other pages within DaVinci Resolve. Right mouse click in the Node Editor and choose Add Alpha Output. This will add a new connection point with a blue dot to the middle right of the Node Editor. Connecting the blue square of a node to this Alpha Output will essentially turn a selection into a mask. This masked content will appear as such on the Edit page. Use Davinci Resolve 17 to export a PNG image with a transparent background. Using resolve to export an image with an alpha allows you to use the images in any project. Both the free version and the Studio version of Davinci Resolve 17 have the ability to export a transparent image by following the steps in the video. This method is different than exporting the image from the color page. A PNG image exported from the Resolve Color Page does not have an alpha and is not really a transparent image. Not only can Resolve export a transparent PNG images, transparent EXR, transparent TGA and transparent TIFF images can also be exported from Resolve. All these types of images will have the Alpha included. This makes Davinci Resolve a graphics machine!
