Dubai has set another record, opening the world's deepest swimming pool. The 60-metre (197ft) deep pool is designed for divers, with a ‘sunken city’ of caves to explore. It holds 14.6 million litres (3.9 million gallons) of fresh water, equivalent to six Olympic-size swimming pools. Breathtaking dives in Raja Ampat, West Papua, Kri Island, Indonesian coral reefs. As part of Coral Triangle Raja Ampat in West Papua has the highest biodiversity and the most colorful reefs on the planet, around 75% of the world’s coral species live here. The size, maturity and healthiness of corals in this region is insane! A large part of the marine life in Raja Ampat is protected by 7 Marine Protected Areas (MPA's). Raja Ampat is an archipelago of over 1500 small islands, including the four main islands of: Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo. We started our trip in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 2 flight transfers, 2 boat transfers and +30 hours later we arrived at Kri Island at Kri Eco Resort + Papua Diving for 10 days. Together with my daughter, Isabelle, we made 22 dives at the most beautiful dive sites there are. All the dive sites are 5-25 minutes from Kri Island: Kri Eco Jetty, Chicken Bay, Mikes Point (!!), Blue Magic, Sardines, Sapokren Jetty, Melissa’s Garden (!!), Chicken Reef, Sorido Wall, Friwenbonda, Citrus Reef, Cape Kri and a lot more! We stayed on Kri Island, at Kri Eco Resort. Kri Eco Resort is located in the center of the Raja Ampat Marine park at Kri Island. Papua Diving provides guided dives for Kri Eco Resort and (sister resort) Sorido Bay Resort. The local Papuan dive guides of Papua Diving are the best experienced dive guides in Raja Ampat. Raja Ampat has more than 1000 species of fish, 540 species of coral and 700 species of mollusk. Predatory fish such as Barracudas, Blacktip Reef Sharks and Whitetip Reef Sharks are fully present. Large Oceanic Manta rays are attracted to the rich plankton waters. Schools of fish are everywhere and sometimes a bait ball can be seen. Beside the beauty marinelife the Kri’s forests are rich in birdlife and reptiles. A special part of the marine park are the Mangroves at Hidden Bay (6:06), they offer critical nursing environments for juveniles of fish species. World's largest amount of mangrove coverage can be found in Indonesia. The Mangroves where one of the highlight’s of this trip! During our stay we made excursions to Fam Islands, Hidden Bay and The Passage, they are the very definition of paradise. - (7:00) Fam Islands are a group of islands in the Raja Ampat Archipelago. White limestone cliffs plunge into the sea. Ultramarine blue lagoons are nestled next to monumental pinnacles and untouched beaches. - (6:06) Hidden Bay has a mangrove system of clear mirror-still blue water, where soft corals grow on the roots of mangrove trees. Rising above the foliage hornbills and parrots swoop between the trees. Hidden Bay is a complex network of interconnected water channels and lakes. - (7:23) The Passage lies between the island of Gam and Waigeo. It can be described as river flowing between the two islands. The nutrient rich waters that are drawn through by the tides feed a vast wealth of marine biodiversity. Above water the sheer limestone cliffs make this a place excessively beautiful. Places like this are sensitive to climate change. It's frightening to see how many people close their eyes for climate change. Climate change and a decrease of biodiversity are caused by overpopulation. Overpopulation is the main cause of most urgent problems in the world. This film is the result of around 20 hours of 4k video footage and a few months editing. Shot in May / June 2019. It is the Deepest Pool in The Dallas Texas area. And this is a very heavy kettlebell. In this video, I’m going to let this heavyweight Drag Me to the bottom of this very deep swimming pool. In a minute I will do this but before I jump in Let’s consider how deep this pool is. This swimming pool is deep enough to cover my whole house. That’s almost 20 feet deep! You Probably are wondering why I would want to get dragged so deep. I love Exploring underwater but the deeper I go, the harder it is to go down. Between holding my breath and the pressure on my ears it can be very difficult for most people to swim deep. So, before we walk off this edge and into the deep Let’s find out why this is so difficult for most people. This is SCUBA Adventure. Scuba Adventure is a Dive Shop in Plano Texas. They have everything you need to go deep Including this incredible dive pool. Scuba adventure doesn’t just sell cool stuff They also teach people how to scuba dive. These students are new to diving. They get into the water on their first day. With hands-on experience, they become comfortable with their gear and experience what it’s like to breathe underwater the instructors use hand signals to communicate with their students underwater. They teach them how to clear their mask and what to do in case of an emergency. They also specialize in buoyancy training, and they are very good at it. This is Brent, He’s one of the owners at scuba adventure. I’m going to ask him some questions about deep diving. Why do my ears hurt so much when I swim deep? Sometimes I forget to equalize and it hurts What’s the danger of breathing compressed air? Let’s talk a little about air pressure and water pressure. Air pressure is the air pushing on your body. And the water pressure is the water pushing on your body. Because water is denser than air, you feel more pressure when you are underwater. When you swim down a little bit, you can start to feel the pressure from the water pushing in on your ears and eyes. As you go deeper, the pressure increases because there is more water above you pushing down. If you go deep enough, the pressure pushing in on your eyes and ears can be so great it will start to cause pain. To show you the crushing pressure of deep water I will use this aluminum can. We emptied this can so we could show you how the water pressure can crush the can full of air. Watch the can closely as I swim to the bottom of the pool You will see the sides of the can squeeze under the weight of the water. This is why it is so important to equalize the pressure in your head with the water pressure. Watch as I go down, I plug my nose and blow to equalize that pressure. Now I can swim deep without hurting my ears. Now it’s time to jump in with the heavy weight. Notice how I plug my nose and blow to counter the water pressure as I go deeper. It works every time and becomes easier as I practice. The weight is also fun to use to walk across the bottom of the swimming pool. I can bring this 20-pound weight up from the bottom of the pool I can’t fill my back yard with water, but that won’t stop us from having some fun. Thanks for watching! The Hammer Head shark encounter was definitely the highlight. The great visibility was, however, what I remember the most about this trip. Filming Locations: Big Brother Small Brother Daedelus Numida Wreck Gola Abu Ramada El Mina Wreck The underwater footage was shot in high definition with Sony HDR 550 in a Light and Motion Bluefin 550 housing with Magic Filter, a Fathom 90 wide angle lens and two Sola 1200 video lights also from L&M. Top side videos were shot on Nikon D7000. The post production was done in Final Cut Pro X and Davinci Resolve 9. MPEG encoding for YouTube was done using Compressor 4.
