From C-SPAN's Q&A interview, Christopher Hitchens comments on Henry Kissinger and whether he'd like to "bury the hatchet." Included in Hitchens' remarks "Kissinger's never said a word of self criticism. Not one. And he gets very petulant and angry and spoiled and ugly when he's criticized...But if he was to try it, I'd be fascinated to meet him. Of course." See the complete interview here: 🤍
Henry Kissinger, the former U.S. Secretary of State who served under both Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, is widely known for his policy work with Vietnam, the Soviet Union, and China throughout the 1970s. Having immigrated to the U.S. from Germany as a teen, Kissinger went on to have an incredibly successful career in American politics, eventually receiving the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize for his work negotiating the Paris Peace Accords. Ultimately, though, Henry Kissinger's legacy is both divisive and controversial. Although revered by many U.S. scholars, Kissinger is not without his outspoken critics. Let’s take a closer look at the life of this enigmatic statesman.
Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said geopolitics today requires “Nixonian flexibility” to help defuse conflicts between the US and China as well as between Russia and the rest of Europe. To on miał ogromny wpływ na politykę zagraniczną Stanów Zjednoczonych w pierwszej połowie lat 70-tych. To dzięki Waszym środkom wkrótce będę w stanie ją samodzielnie wydać. 🤍 A teraz zapraszam Was do obejrzenia najnowszego odcinka!

This is a clip from my 1979 documentary television special "The Information Society". The host was my friend and colleague Marc Porat, who produced and wrote the show and knew a lot about the information overload workers were experiencing. He believed, and of course he was right, that computers were going to both increase the overload and eventually decrease it by using computer AI (Chatgpt as an example). Every person who we approached in a leadership position in the new "information society” as opposed to the industrial society, wanted to appear in this film which is why Henry Kissinger appears among others. The term "information overload" was first coined at this time to describe the feeling of being overwhelmed with too much information, particularly as it related to the growing use of computers and other technologies in the workplace. The 1970s saw the rise of personal computers, the internet, and other technologies that dramatically increased the amount of information available to people in their daily lives. One of the main concerns of information overload during this time period was the impact it could have on productivity and decision-making. With so much information available, it could be difficult to filter out what was important and relevant, leading to delays and mistakes. Additionally, the stress of trying to process so much information could lead to burnout and other negative consequences. To address this issue, some organizations began to implement strategies to help manage information overload, such as prioritizing information based on relevance and importance, and using technology to filter and organize data more effectively. This included the use of databases, search algorithms, and other tools designed to make it easier to find and sort through large amounts of information. Today, information overload remains a significant issue, with many people feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information available to them. However, modern technology has also provided new solutions to help manage this challenge, such as social media algorithms and personalized recommendations designed to help people filter and find the information that is most relevant to them. If you found this clip interesting please search the words "information society" on my YouTube channel and you will see clips from my documentary as well as the complete one hour documentary. And I ask you to click the Super Thanks button below the video screen to support my efforts to continue to present video and film clips from the past that provoke present-day thinking. At the PBS NewsHour Democratic Debate Thursday in Milwaukee, Sen. Bernie Sanders voiced his strong opposition to Hillary Clinton's relationship with fellow former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Sanders referenced Kissinger's involvement in Cambodia, which he referred to as "one of the worst genocides in the history of the world."
