It is an archipelago of 36 islands in the Arabian sea, located 200 to 440 km off of the mainland's southwestern coast. The name has also been rendered Laccadive, though the Laccadive Islands are just one part of the archipelago. Lakshadweep means "one lakh islands" in Malayalam, the official as well as the widely spoken native language in the territory. The islands form the smallest union territory of India and their total surface area is just 32 km2 (12 sq mi). The lagoon area covers about 4,200 km2 (1,600 sq mi), the territorial waters area 20,000 km2 (7,700 sq mi) and the exclusive economic zone area 400,000 km2 (150,000 sq mi). Today, we will explore Union Territory Lakshadweep closely. #Lakshadweep is a tropical archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs in the Laccadive Sea, off the coast of Kerala, India. Not all of the islands are inhabited, and only a few are open to visitors (permits required). Kavaratti, one of the more developed islands, is home to dozens of mosques, including the ornately decorated Ujra Mosque, as well as Kavaratti Aquarium, showcasing regional fish, shark and coral species. Lakshadweep is an union territory and is being administerd by the Central Gorvernment of India. Lakshadweep is the smallest union terrtory with the area of 32 sq km and having population of approximately 65,000. Population wise also Lakshadweep is the smallest union territory. With 92% of literacy rate Lakshadweep is India's second most literate state after Kerala. It has approximately 97% population of Muslim community and so the main festivals are Eid and Moharram. Best time to visit Lakshadweep is from October to May when there is no rain because in rainy season sea waves becomes more rough which is not favorable for water sports. The Kavaratti island is a coral island with rich bio diversity. The island is full of coconut trees and people of Kavaratti does fishing for their livelihood. The island is surrounded by rich coral reefs and sea life. The island has a population of 9400 people according to 2011 census. All major Govt. offices are situated in Kavaratti. The people are very simple and humble.. About Lakshadweep: Lakshadweep is a group of 36 islands in Laccadive seas. Lakshadweep is one among the eight union territories in India. Lakshadweep Islands are the most beautiful islands in the world with rich bio diversity. The islands are formed by corals and reefs. Lakshadweep trip is a once in a life time trip because of its serene beauty. The formalities to visit Lakshadweep Islands. 1. Sponsor : To visit a Lakshadweep islands there should be a sponsor for us. The sponsor should be an Islander, and he will be responsible for the guests coming to Lakshadweep. The cost of Permit varies from sponsor to sponsor. Our Sponsor : Mr. Sabith K - Phone : 9497564003 2. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC): To obtain Lakshadweep permit we have get a PCC certificate from nearest police station u dwell, it can be applied through AKSHAYA centers or by Online thought THUNA website. Rs. 6500/- will be the average flight charges as per website. You can book through direct website or through third party websites such as MakeMyTrip. The cheapest method to travel to Lakshadweep is via cruise ships. There are multiple number of ships from Kochi to Islands. Namely MV Kavarathi, MV Lagoons, MV Corals & MV Arabian Sea. The classes of stay are Bunk Class (Rs. 1500), Second class cabin (Rs. 4300), First class cabin (Rs. 6600) from Kochi to Kavarathi islands. The booking can be done through direct counters at Kochi, Beypore and Mangalore (70% offline tickets) and via Online (30% released via online prior to travel). The tickets for ships are released between 2- 5 days before the travel and the details can be obtained from the Lakport website. 5. Stays in Lakshadweep: Rooms/houses are available in cheaper rates Ranging from Rs. 250 to Rs. 3000 depending upon the facilities provided. 6. Local Conveyance: Bikes can be rented for Rs. 150/- per day (24 hours) and there is a petrol bunk were you can get fuel (8.00 Am to 8.00 PM only) 7. Food : There are multiple restaurants where you get local cuisines as well as Kerala food and Arabic grills. Bahanas Kitchen near western Jetty is a must place to visit to have authentic dishes of Lakshadweep. 8. Places to visit: Kavarathi Light House (5pm to 6.00 pm) , Marine Museum, serene beaches, coral reefs and other water activities such as glass boat ride & under water scuba diving . PLEASE DO NOT DO: 1. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in Lakshadweep except Bangaram Islands. So do not try to take liquor bottles to Lakshadweep which will end you in trouble. 2. Do not take coral reefs, sea cucumber or any other natural resources from the Islands as it is the violation of law and will attract huge fine and legal punishments. Do not pluck the coconut without permission from the land owners as the coconut trees are owned by natives. 3. Do not go into direct sunlight without sun lotions, you ll be tanned in no time. 4. Do not visit uninhibited islands without permission, the cost guards will cease you under custody. Always keep a copy of the permit with you in your phone. लक्षद्वीप प्रवाल द्वीपों का एक समूह है जिसमें 12 प्रवाल द्वीप, वीन प्रवाल भित्ति और जलमग्न बालू के तट शामिल हैं। यहां के कुल 27 द्वीपों में से केवल 11 में आबादी है। ये द्वीप उत्तर में 8 अंश और 12.3 अक्षांश पर तथा पूर्व में 71 अंश और 74 अंश देशांतर पर केरल तट से लगभग 280 से 480 कि. Lakshadweep – लक्षद्वीप भारत का एक केंद्र शासित प्रदेश है। इस प्रदेश पर भारत सरकार का नियंत्रण होता है। #लक्षद्वीपकाइतिहासHindi #लक्षद्वीपHindiDocumentary #LakshadweepHindiDocumentary #LakshadweepHistoryInformation लोगो ने इस द्वीप पर पहली बार रहना शुरू कर दिया था जब केरल मे चेरा वंश का आखिरी राजा चेरमन पेरूमल शासन किया करता था। पुराने समय में लोग यहाँ के अमिनी, कल्पेनी अन्दरोत, कवरत्ती और अगाती में रहते थे। पुरातत्व के कुछ सबुतो से पता चलता है की सन 5 वी और 6 वी शताब्दी में यहापर बौद्ध धर्म के लोग रहते थे। यहाँ के कुछ लोगो का मानना है की सन 661 में एक अरबी व्यक्ति उबेदुल्ला ने यहापर इस्लाम धर्म की शुरुवात की थी। उसकी कब्र अन्द्रोत द्वीप पर देखने को मिलती है। 11 वी शताब्दी में इस द्वीप पर चोला वंश का शासन था और उसके बाद में कानानोर का शासन था। 16 वी शताब्दी में पोर्तुगिजो का ओर्मुज और मालाबार के बिच के प्रदेश पर और दक्षिण में सीलोन तक शासन था। पोर्तुगिजो ने सन 1498 में इसे पूरी तरह से अपने कब्जे में कर लिया था और बाद में यहापर कोयर यानि काथी का उत्पादन लेना शुरू कर दिया था लेकिन 1545 में यहाँ के लोगो ने उन्हें यहाँ से निकाल दिया। 17 वी शताब्दी में इस द्वीप पर कन्नूर के अली राजा/ अरक्कल भीवी का शासन था मगर उन्हें यह प्रदेश कोलाथिरिस ने भेट के रूप में प्रदान कर दिया था। सन 1787 में अमिनिदिवी का द्वीपसमूह (अन्दरोत, अमिनी, कदमत, किल्तन, चेत्लाथ और बितरा) टीपू सुलतान के कब्जे में चला गया था। लेकिन तीसरे एंग्लो मैसूर युद्ध के बाद यह प्रदेश अंग्रेजो के कब्जे में चला गया और यह दक्षिण कानारा का हिस्सा बन गया। जो बचा हुआ प्रदेश था वह कानानोर के अरक्कल परिवार को सौपा गया लेकिन उसके बदले में उन्हें भी हर साल भुगतान देना पड़ता था। अगर किसी भी साल भुगतान नहीं किया गया तो अंग्रेज उस प्रदेश का प्रशासन खुद चलाते थे। अग्रेज शासन के दौरान यहाँ के सभी द्वीप मद्रास प्रान्त के मालाबार जिले से जुड़े थे। जब भारत के सभी राज्यों की फिर से निर्मिती की जा रही थी तब 1 नवम्बर 1956 को लक्षद्वीप को मद्रास से अलग करके केंद्रशासित प्रदेश घोषित कर दिया गया। इस द्वीप को नाम देने से पहले कुछ लोग इसे लक्कदिव, मिनिकॉय और अमिनिदिवी द्वीप नाम से बुलाते थे मगर 1 नवम्बर 1973 को इसे लक्षद्वीप नाम दिया गया। लक्षद्वीप की भाषा – Lakshadweep Language इस द्वीप पर रहने वाले लोग केरल के लोगो की तरह बोलते है और उनकी भाषा मे भारतीय और अरबी भाषा का मिश्रण देखने को मिलता है। लक्षद्वीप के लोग मलायलम भाषा में ही बात करते है मगर यहाँ के मिनिकॉय इलाके में धिवेही भाषा का एक प्रकार जिसे महल कहा जाता है, उसमे ही यहाँ के लोग बात करते है। लक्षद्वीप की संस्कृति – Lakshadweep Culture लक्षद्वीप समूह की संस्कृति और परमपरा काफी समृद्ध है। यहापर कई तरह की प्रथा और परम्पराए देखने को मिलती है। इस प्रदेश के इस्लाम धर्म के लोग तो रहते ही है लेकिन यहापर अन्य धर्म के लोग त्यौहार, नृत्य भी देखन को मिलते है। लक्षद्वीप केरल के नजदीक होने की वजह से केरल की प्रथा और परंपरा का यहाँ पर काफी प्रभाव देखने को मिलता है। मुहर्रम, बकरी ईद, मिलादुन्नबी और ईद उल फ़ित्र जैसे त्यौहार यहापर बड़े उत्साह के साथ मनाये जाते है। अगत्ती द्वीप से ही लक्षद्वीप में प्रवेश किया जा सकता है। यह द्वीप कोचीन से करीब 459 किमी की दुरी पर है। अगत्ती द्वीप लगभग 6 किमी लम्बा है। इस द्वीप पर अधिक मात्रा में मछलिया देखने को मिलती है। मछलिया पकड़ना यहाँ के लोगो का मुख्य व्यवसाय है। इस द्वीप पर कुछ खास समुद्र तट है जिसपर अच्छे से स्विमिंग की जा सकती है। यहापर पर्यटक स्विमिंग, स्नोर्केल्लिंग और स्कूबा डाइविंग का पूरा आनंद ले सकते है। यहाँ की बड़ी बड़ी खाड़ी की वजह से तो यह द्वीप ओर ही सुन्दर दिखता है। इस द्वीप पर लोग स्कूबा डाइविंग, फिशिंग, नौकायन, बोट रायडिंग, वाटर स्कीइंग, और कयाकिंग का पूरा लुत्फ़ उठा सकते है। कवरत्ती द्वीप समूह – Kavaratti लक्षद्वीप का यह सबसे विकसित द्वीप है। कवरत्ती इस लक्षद्वीप की राजधानी भी है और इस द्वीप पर अधिकतर बाहर से आये हुए लोग रहते है। यहापर कई सारी मस्जिद (लगभग 52) है जिसमे उज्र की मस्जिद सबसे सुन्दर है। कल्पेनी – Kalpeni कल्पेनी अन्दरोत से करीब 76 किमी की दुरी पर स्थित है। यह जगह एक बड़े खाड़ी में स्थित है। इस खाड़ी में अलग अलग तरह के समुद्री जिव रहते है। कदमत – Kadmat Island कदमत द्वीप यहाँ का सबसे सुन्दर द्वीप है इसीलिए यह पर्यटन का मुख्य आकर्षण बन चूका है। इस द्वीप के पश्चिम में एक बहुत बड़ी खाड़ी है जो को अमिनी से केवल 10 किमी की दुरी पर स्थित है। बंगाराम – Bangaram Atoll यहापर बहुत ही मुलायम रेत और कुछ वृक्षों के वन होने की वजह से इसे दुनिया का सबसे अच्छा पर्यटन स्थल माना जाता है। यहा के समुद्र के कारण ही रेत इतनी अच्छी और मुलायम है। यह द्वीप अगत्ती द्वीप से उत्तरी दिशा में करीब 8 किमी की दुरी पर है। इस लक्षद्वीप पर सभी धर्म के लोग रहते है। लेकिन इस्लाम धर्म के लोग यहाँपर बड़ी मात्रा में देखने को मिलते है। कहा जाता है की यहापर इस्लाम धर्म को लाने में उबेदुल्ला नाम के व्यक्ति ने बड़ा योगदान दिया है। इस द्वीप पर मुहर्रम, बकरी ईद जैसे त्यौहार बड़े पैमाने पर मनाये जाते है। यहाँ के लोग ज्यादातर मलायलम भाषा में ही बात करते है। यहाँ के अधिकतर लोग मच्छीमार व्यवसाय करते है। यहाँ के खाने की अधिकतर चीजो में नारियल का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। इडली, डोसा, चावल के पदार्थ यहापर आमतौर पर देखने को मिलते है।
