Police in San Jose have identified and arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run over the weekend, the department announced on Monday evening. The name of the suspect has not been released, but police have promised to follow up with a press release. Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake says he was "in tears" Monday morning watching children flee the scene of a mass shooting at an elementary school. Three adults and three students lost their lives when a 28-year-old white female shooter opened fire at The Covenant School at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Police said she entered the school through a side entrance with two assault rifles and a handgun. The shooter, a Nashville woman and former Covenant student, was killed by police after she made her way to the second floor of the school. Chief Drake said children ran to the tree line to hide. Photos sent to the FOX 17 newsroom show kids running to their parents, crying. Metro Police haven't released the name of the shooter. Officers reportedly have her address and are searching her residence to figure out a motive. Police also said they know the ages of the children who were killed, but are waiting to release that information. FOX 17 News will continue to provide updates as more information develops. A man was arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on Thursday, May 6, after he took off in not one, but two police cars during an extended pursuit. Aerial footage released by the Volusia Sheriff's Office shows how the chase unfolded. The chase began when Cocoa police responded to a report of a disturbance near a Cocoa motel on Thursday afternoon, ABC affiliate WFTV reported. Officers with the Volusia Sheriff's Office were able to force the stolen cruiser off the road, where it crashed into some woods. [Ads /] However, as police surrounded the first vehicle, the suspect was able to escape and take off in a second patrol car. Helicopter footage shows the second cruiser coming to a stop on a highway median after police disabled it with drop sticks. The suspect was arrested and is awaiting charges, police said: 🤍

A 17-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning, Tarpon Springs police said. Officers say the teen from Pompano Beach was crossing U.S. 19 near Klosterman Road when she was hit by a driver in a Toyota Pickup truck heading northbound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. MORE: 🤍 A 32-year-old man is dead after a driver hit him with their car and kept on driving, Clearwater police said in a news release. The deadly hit-and-run crash happened just after 5 a.m. Tuesday on Sunset Point Road near Kings Highway. The driver of the unknown car did not stay at the scene, police said. * (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Warren, Ohio — On November 2, 2022, a Warren Police Officer noticed a male wanted for felonious assault. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect, 39-year old Lamar Mitchell refused to pull over. Officers then pursued after Mitchell on North Park Avenue. The pursuit ended when Mitchell crashed into a vehicle in the area of North Park and Washington Street NE. Mitchell fled his vehicle on foot following the crash behind a daycare center. As Officers pursued after Mitchell, Mitchell forced his way through a rear door of the daycare center as an employee walking back into the daycare center was attempting to shut the door. Officers followed after Mitchell and as they entered the same doorway, Mitchell raised his hand towards the officers and threatened to “shoot” them. An officer attempted to tase Mitchell but was unsuccessful. Officers were able to apprehend Mitchell after he fled into a classroom, where several young children were located.
