We’ve got Mat lining up in the Tesla Model S Plaid, and he’s about to go head-to-head against a Ferrari SF90 & Porsche 911 Turbo S! So let’s see how these three compare. Starting with the Tesla, it’s equipped with three electric motors - one on the front axle, and two on the rear. Combined they produce an almighty 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. Naturally, the motors and batteries weigh it down a bit, so it tips the scales at 2,190kg. In terms of price, you can pick one up new for £113,000. Next up we have the Ferrari. Not only does it come with three electric motors, but it’s also packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8! When they combine, it can put down an incredible 1,000hp and 800Nm! It’ll come as no surprise that it’s lighter than the Tesla, weighing in at 1,580kg (but we think Ferrari may be watering down their figures a bit…). And while it’s lighter than the Tesla, it’s SO much more expensive, costing from £376,000! Then finally we have the Porsche. It’s powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six that can produce 650hp and 800Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 1,640kg. It may be cheaper than the Ferrari, but it still carries a hefty price tag, costing from £180,000! Celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars, the storied marque today revealed its newest concept car: the Mission X. As a design study, not offered for sale, with production to be decided in due time, the Mission X is a glimpse into what the sports car of the future could look like. Porsche exemplifies e-performance yet is also a pioneer in sustainable mobility. The concept study meets both objectives in full measure. L'obbiettivo è quello di essere l'auto stradale più veloce al Nurburgring, e tutto questo senza sapere che la Tesla Model S Plaid avrebbe infranto il record della Taycan qualche giorno fa. Naturalmente la Mission X, rivelata questa sera alla celebrazione dei 75° compleanno di Porsche è molto di più che un semplice numero sul cronometro. E' un dimostratore tecnologico di portata galattica, con un rapporto peso potenza di 1 kg per cavallo che raccoglie l'eredità della 959, della Carrera GT e della 918 Spyder. Lunga 4,5 metri e alta solo 1,2 metri, esibisce tecnologie elettriche da paura, come la ricarica a 900 V (si ricarica in metà tempo rispetto alla Taycan Turbo S) e le batterie raffreddate ad olio. Una deportanza superiore a quella della 911 GT3 RS. I motori elettrici sono del tipo sincrono ad eccitazione permanente anch'essi raffreddati direttamente con un flusso di olio refrigerante. La scocca di fibra di carbonio racchiude la struttura di contenimento delle batterie in un packaging nuovo e realizzato a forma di E, per sfruttare la meglio lo spazio interno bilanciando meglio la distribuzione delle masse e tenendo il baricentro basso, con i posti per gli occupanti ricavati in uno spazio all'interno delle batterie, una soluzione già intravista sulla Rimac Nevera (che è in stretti rapporti con Porsche). L'aerodinamica è molto spinta, e il particolare che lo rivela non è solo nella forma della carrozzeria, ma anche nei dettagli, come le porte in stile Le Mans che si aprono verso l'alto e comprendono una parte delle "pance" o la cupola di vetro che ne completa la parte superiore e che dà all'abitacolo una luminosità fuori dal comune. Riuscire a creare una downforce superiore a quella generata dal mostruoso alettone della GT3 RS senza una ala sparata verso il cielo è davvero una "mission", in questo caso, quasi invisibile ma possibile.

2025 Porsche 911 (992.2) Hybrid, Turbo & GT3 spotted at Nurburgring. See our full report with spy photos for more: 🤍 Yep, a Porsche 911 hybrid. Porsche has been caught in the act testing an electrified version of the upcoming 2025-2026 ’992.2’ 911 out on the Nurburgring in prototype form. We know this prototype features electrified technology due to the warning stickers on the vehicle. These are basically there so emergency crew know the vehicle features high-voltage battery tech, in the event of an accident. Porsche originally mentioned the idea of a hybrid 911 back in 2018, when it previewed the current-gen 992 series. Porsche’s 992 model line director August Achleitner said a hybrid “could be an option somewhere down the line”. We spotted this prototype example out on the Nurburgring recently, wearing a number of new features. One of the big changes is the new rear diffuser element. Although this is just a prototype and further changes are likely before production, the protruding diffuser and centrally-mounted exhausts are an interesting touch. The alloy wheels are also new and seem to borrow a bit from Mercedes-Benz’s latest range, with a thick outer wall providing a cool aero look. Again, these wheels might be there for testing purposes only and might not reach showrooms – although, we hope they do. At the back of the car you might notice a strange socket-looking thing on the corner. Our camera couldn't pick up the full detail but could this be a charge plug with no flap so engineers can easily recharge between laps around the Nurburgring? Specifications and finer details are hard to come by, with some speculations suggesting Porsche will not do a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) for the 911, mainly due to the added weight. A hybrid generally means a combustion engine does the majority of the work with a smallish battery and electric motor assist system. Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) usually entails a larger battery and electric motor, at least large enough to provide proper electric-only driving for a range of 20km and above. With a bigger battery means bigger weight, which is not something the 911 has traditionally been friends with. Power will likely come from the existing – albeit tuned differently for 2024 – 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine. There has been talk of the hybrid being based on the 911 Turbo flagship, potentially wearing the badge '911 Turbo S E-Hybrid'. Reports suggest it could be the most powerful 911 ever, generating around 700hp (522kW) or more. By the looks of this prototype though, the hybrid system is likely paired with the Carrera's 3.0-litre unit. According to an Autocar report, the electric motor will be mounted to the transmission and act more like a mild-hybrid booster rather than provide stand-alone power or a full electric mode. Either way, it's understood Porsche is aiming for performance increases as a primary focus with a minimal cost in weight. Total power output will reportedly reach around 520kW (700hp) in initial form, potentially as a 911 Turbo or GT2, while similar technology is set to trickle down to regular 911 variants a bit further down the track.
